Lines of Effort
Effort Stoner is the design of an AR upper from plastic bricks. This effort may be impossible given our medium. It may have a better chance of working if we start with a .22"LR bolt first.
2014 update - given our recent experiments with the Mk 8 stock, it would seem 10-24 threaded rods lend considerable strength to a plastic brick structure. The editor is now cautiously optimistic about this effort, albeit serious work is a long way off. One serious problem to resolve is the hot gas spraying in the upper from the gas tube. This could be resolved several ways; a pistol caliber blowback upper without a gas tube, a gas piston uppper, or an upper that is vented, perhaps directly over the gas tube mouth.
